MATERIALS & FINISHES

Architectural Metals, Finishes & Decorative Surfaces

Material selection defines far more than colour. The base metal, surface treatment, texture, reflectivity, fabrication method and surrounding materials all influence how architectural metalwork appears in the finished space.

MATERIAL + SURFACE + PATTERN + FABRICATION

From material concept to finished architectural component.

KingDeco works with stainless steel, brass, aluminium and specialist decorative metal surfaces for hospitality, retail, casino, corporate and landmark projects. From brushed stainless steel and PVD colours to water ripple, embossed textures and custom patterns, we help project teams turn material concepts into finished architectural components.

Not a sheet retailer

We combine material knowledge with engineering and fabrication — decorative metal becomes a finished architectural component.

SECTION 02 — SURFACE FINISHES

The Same Metal, Completely Different Results

Surface finish affects reflectivity, colour, texture, scratch visibility, maintenance, perceived quality and interaction with lighting.

SECTION 03 — PATTERNS & TEXTURES

Decorative Patterns & Textures

Beyond colour and polish, pattern, relief, perforation and forming change how light interacts with the surface — the material itself becomes a design feature.

SECTION 04 — PVD COLOURS

Colour Changes Everything

A finish name is not a reliable colour specification on its own — one supplier's Champagne Gold may differ significantly from another's. Colour also changes with hairline vs mirror substrate, lighting temperature, viewing direction, surrounding materials and coating batch. KingDeco recommends physical sample approval for architectural projects.

01

Silver / Natural

The natural stainless appearance — clean and architectural.

02

Champagne

Soft warm metallic, widely used in hospitality interiors.

03

Gold

Rich decorative gold tones for feature elements.

04

Rose Gold

Contemporary warm pink-gold metallic.

05

Bronze

Deep warm bronze tones for premium interiors.

06

Copper Tone

Distinctive copper-family metallic colour.

07

Black

Black PVD for strong contemporary contrast.

08

Dark Metallic

Darker metallic colour families, sample-approved.

SAMPLE APPROVAL

Approve PVD colour on metal in your hand.

For project work, colour should be approved against a physical sample rather than selected only from a digital image. Tell us the colour family, the substrate finish and the application — a sample is produced for approval.

SECTION 05 — COMBINATIONS

Finish + Pattern Combinations

Material design is rarely limited to choosing one finish. The final appearance comes from combining base material + texture + colour + fabrication detail + lighting — which is why physical sampling matters for complex metalwork.

01

Water Ripple + PVD

Reflective three-dimensional texture combined with coloured PVD surface.

02

Etched + Mirror

Contrast between highly reflective and patterned areas.

03

Hairline + Etched

Controlled linear finish combined with decorative graphics.

04

Embossed + PVD

Three-dimensional texture enhanced with metallic colour.

05

Perforated + Powder Coat

Custom perforation combined with a specified architectural colour.

06

Laser Cut + PVD

Custom patterns combined with luxury metallic surfaces.

SECTION 06 — FROM SHEET TO COMPONENT

From Sheet to Finished Architectural Component

A decorative metal sheet becomes valuable to a project only when it can be transformed into a finished architectural component. KingDeco combines material knowledge with engineering and fabrication to make that transition possible.

SECTION 08 — SELECTION

Choosing the Right Material for Your Project

01

Hospitality

Considerations: luxury appearance, finish consistency, high-touch surfaces, integration with glass/stone/timber. Suggested: stainless steel, brass, PVD finishes, textured surfaces.

02

Casino & Integrated Resorts

Considerations: large quantities, finish consistency, durability, complex custom details. Suggested: stainless steel, PVD, brass, powder-coated metal.

03

Luxury Retail

Considerations: precision, repeatability, close-range visual quality, brand consistency. Suggested: hairline, mirror, PVD, etched and custom patterns.

04

Restaurants & Bars

Considerations: strong visual identity, lighting interaction, highly visible feature details. Suggested: water ripple, hammered, PVD, mirror, brass.

05

Corporate Interiors

Considerations: clean appearance, durability, controlled reflection. Suggested: hairline, satin, vibration, powder coat.

06

Cultural & Landmark Projects

Considerations: large-scale custom geometry, special materials, long-term appearance. Suggested: brass, stainless steel, custom textured metal.

SECTION 09 — SAMPLE APPROVAL

Never Approve Architectural Metal From a Screen Alone

Digital images cannot accurately reproduce metallic reflection, texture depth, gloss, PVD colour, directional finishes or interaction with lighting. For significant architectural projects, KingDeco recommends approving physical samples before production — design reference, KingDeco sample, client and designer review, approved master sample, then mass production.

MATERIAL FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about materials, finishes and fabrication. Anything else, send it with your drawings.

01

What metals does KingDeco work with?

Our core architectural materials include stainless steel, brass and aluminium, together with steel structures and specialist decorative materials where required by the project.

02

What stainless steel grades do you commonly use?

304 and 316 are common project grades. The final grade should follow the project specification and environmental requirements.

03

Can you provide custom PVD colours?

Custom colour development may be possible depending on quantity and coating requirements. Physical sample approval is recommended.

04

Can you match an existing metal sample?

Yes. Where colour or texture is important, send the physical reference sample whenever possible.

05

Do you manufacture water ripple and embossed sheets yourselves?

KingDeco works with specialist material suppliers where required and then handles the engineering, fabrication and integration into finished architectural components.

06

Can you fabricate finished products using these decorative sheets?

Yes — this is the core difference between KingDeco and a simple sheet supplier. We convert decorative metal materials into finished wall panels, ceilings, screens, doors, shopfronts, railings, furniture, signage, planters and bespoke architectural components.

07

Can I send only a design rendering?

Yes, for initial discussion. Final production normally requires confirmed dimensions and fabrication information — KingDeco can assist with shop drawing development where required.
