Museums
Architectural metal facades, screens, feature walls, entrances and interior installations.
INDUSTRIES — CULTURAL & LANDMARKS
Complex metal fabrication for museums, memorials, civic buildings and architecturally significant projects. Cultural and landmark projects often contain architectural elements that cannot be purchased as standard products — unusual geometry, large scale, specialist finishes, complex structures and strict visual requirements. KingDeco works with project teams to translate these architectural concepts into buildable metal components.
FEATURED CASE STUDY
Major custom brass architectural fabrication for a national landmark.
Project: Australian War Memorial, Canberra, Australia. KingDeco scope: major custom brass architectural fabrication, approximately 3,000 square metres of brass facade and architectural metalwork. The package required translating complex architectural geometry into individually coordinated fabricated components with strict geometric control across a long production programme.
GEOMETRY TO FABRICATION
The objective is not simply to reproduce the shape.
Large architectural features normally begin as a design model that then becomes individual components, manufacturing drawings, material schedules, connection details, fabrication sequences, assembly references and packing lists. For complex geometry, KingDeco uses Rhino and related 3D development workflows to translate architectural forms into manufacturable components — a practical system that can be fabricated, checked, packed, transported and installed.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
Applications across museums, memorials, civic buildings and public landmarks.
Architectural metal facades, screens, feature walls, entrances and interior installations.
Brass, stainless steel and bespoke elements requiring precise design interpretation.
Entrances, facades, screens, railings and decorative architectural metalwork.
Custom interior and exterior feature metalwork.
Large-scale bespoke metal features and architectural elements.
Complex decorative metal elements based on architectural or artistic design intent.
BRASS FABRICATION
Brass creates a distinctive appearance but requires careful fabrication and finish control — considerations below.
Material thickness, forming, welding and joining developed for the design.
Surface treatment, oxidation expectations and colour variation managed with reference samples.
Handling, installation and long-term appearance planned at engineering stage.
Approved reference samples established before production where colour consistency is critical.
FABRICATION PLANNING
A typical sequence for large bespoke packages.
Drawings, 3D models and specifications checked.
Complex forms translated into buildable components.
Critical details tested.
Material and finish standards established.
Components grouped into logical production packages.
Cutting, forming, welding, grinding and finishing.
Interfaces checked before delivery where practical.
Dimensions and visual appearance verified.
Components labelled per drawings or installation sequence.
Packaging designed around shape, protection and shipment method.
LOGISTICS
The fabrication team needs to think backwards from installation.
Questions include: what can fit in a container; where a joint can be located; which surface must be protected; which component installs first; how components will be identified; and whether temporary transport reinforcement is required. Shipping is considered during engineering rather than only after manufacturing has finished.
Next step
Complex architectural metalwork does not begin with a catalogue — it begins with a drawing. Send architectural drawings, 3D models, BOQ, specifications, reference samples, approximate quantity, project location and programme. KingDeco can review the current information and determine the next steps for fabrication and quotation.
